The Bouamatou Foundation organized two training sessions to train national and foreign general practitioners and state nurses in the ophthalmologist specialization and ophthalmology technician.
The diplomas are issued by the Mauritanian faculty of medicine which delegated authority to the Bouamatou Foundation, which handles all training, particularly given the favorable environment it has (classroom, internship field, Internet network, IT equipment, overhead projector, accommodation for foreign doctors).
The training for doctors specializing in ophthalmology lasts 4 years and is 2 years for ophthalmology technicians. The training is full-time.
Most trainers are specialized doctors affiliated with the faculty of medicine and already working at the Bouamatou Foundation Ophthalmology Hospital.
The Bouamatou Foundation grants a scholarship to future Mauritanian and foreign ophthalmologists and technicians throughout the training period.
Session 2 - 2008 to 2013
It includes 6 doctors, of which 3 are Mauritanians and 3 are Nigeriens.
Mr. Mohamed Ould Bouamatou, President of the Foundation, covered the academic and accommodation costs during the training period of the three Nigerien doctors in Mauritania.
This agreement was made as part of a memorandum signed by the Minister of Community Development Dr. Saade Souleye and Mr. Mohamed Ould Bouamatou himself.
At the signing of the document, Mr. Mohamed Ould Bouamatou said he was very happy to welcome brother doctors from Niger, a country he appreciates greatly for the quality of its people and its leaders, a country very dear to us, and for which we are happy to be able to contribute to the training of doctors to reduce the suffering of patients.

Dr Ahmed Rifai Ould Ahmedou (May Allah have mercy on his soul)
Dr Souleymane Ould Ahmed Deida
The Nigerien doctors who were in training are:
Dr Bachabi Abderrahmane Issoufou

Dr Kako Abdousallah Rabiou
Thanks to this, the Bouamatou Foundation has become a major training center recognized in sub-Saharan Africa.
Session 1 - 2004 to 2008
The first class trained included 6 doctors and 8 Mauritanian nurses.
The doctors who passed their exams are:
